Kids Open Door 2026

A few days ago I invited kids from my neighbourhood to learn about music robots. Education and STEM teaching have always been part of my journey. Giving something back to the community, beyond touring and exhibitions, is an integral part of my art practice. My studio is in East Germany, a region that doesn't always have it easy, and staying here and investing in the community matters to me. So when Die Sendung mit der Maus, Germany's best-known educational show for kids, asked me to open my doors, I was in! Over 160 kids and parents visited the studio. Here were some of their favourite questions: Where do your ideas come from?
Can you 3D print bones?
Is AI also a robot?
Do I still have to practice my instrument if I build a music robot? When I asked who wanted to become an artist, only about five kids said yes. A good reason to keep going next year.
